This Artist Creates Intricate Designs Inspired By Nature With Colorful Threads (15 Pics)
Nahar Shamsun, aka Sew Beautiful , is a UK-based embroidery artist who creates vibrant landscapes inspired by nature. She started embroidering at a young age as she would watch her mum create embroidered flowers on tea towels and bedding. Fascinated by the art form, the artist started the same too. “As I got older [I] would create full quilts with huge floral designs, they would take me quite a while but I’d always love seeing the end result,” Sew Beautiful tells DeMilked. “Over the last 8/10 years I have moved my medium more onto embroidery hoops and creating landscapes.”
Talking about her inspirations, the artist says, “I would say that a bit inspiration is nature, there is such beautiful natural sceneries around us everywhere which we often take for granted. I love how with needlework simple threads can create such beautiful textures and depths. It’s amazing to see how a pencil outline on a cotton canvas can turn into something so 3D and pop out to you.”
Her artworks are truly mesmerizing and unique – the colorful threads give an appearance of a painting and are a delight to the eyes. Check out some of her most breathtaking works in the gallery below.

Sew Beautiful further elaborates and talks about her creative process, “I always have an idea of what piece I am going to create next as I am completing my current piece. Most of my pieces start out with a vague mental image for example “I want to create a landscape that has lots mountains and rivers.” Some pieces I also take inspiration from current pieces and build on them.
I will then begin to make sketches of the landscape on paper where I will add and take away various features. I spend a lot of my time thinking about colour combinations and stitching types e.g. French knots, satin stitch If I want a more intricate piece I will use fine threads. Most of the time I will get all my threads out in front of me to help visualise.
Once I am all set, I will then sketch onto fabric and begin stitching, the process is quite fluid I do change it around and some pieces come very organically.”
