The Internet Is Freaking Out As Egyptian Archaeologists Open A 2,500-Year-Old Sarcophagus

If you thought 2020 couldn’t get any worse, here’s a little something that will make you reconsider. Archaeologists in Egypt just discovered 59 wooden sarcophagi dating back around 2,500 years – and to make matters worse, they’ve just started opening them. And anyone who has seen The Mummy knows how well that ended.

The first sarcophagus was recently opened in front of an audience, and lucky for us, no curse has been released so far – but there are still plenty of sarcophagi left to be open.

The dig in the Saqqara Necropolis was started back in 2018 and has been very fruitful so far, with numerous sarcophagi being found in the burial wells located 10 – 12 meters underground.

The first coffin was opened in front of a live audience, and luckily, no curses were released

The newly-found sarcophagi were perfectly preserved, still retaining most of their original colors. It is likely that they belong to priests or other high-ranking members of society.

Now he not only gets to browse the latest cat videos and fresh memes every day but also shares them with people all over the world, making sure they stay up to date with everything that’s trending on the web. Some things that always pique his interest are old technologies, literature and all sorts of odd vintage goodness. So if you find something that’s too bizarre not to share, make sure to hit him up!
