Terrifying Clown Portraits By Eolo Perfido Will Give You Nightmares
As an internet user, chances are that you are deathly afraid of clowns, and the mass nostalgia over Stephen Kings’s “It” might have something to do with it. If that’s the case, then Eolo Perfido’s “Clownville” will do little to ease your fears.
This is a grotesque gallery of clownish dwellers of a macabre underground. Instead of bringing joy to children, these clowns scare adults with their hyper-expressiveness. This is to demonstrate the insecurities and dark thoughts that we hide under our cheerful exteriors and witty quips. Whether you feel that way about the series or not, these are undeniably striking images.
Mr. Perfido claims that he discovered photography later in life – he started taking pictures when he was 28. However, this didn’t deter him and now he’s taking pictures like there’s no tomorrow. “ Taking pictures has become something that goes beyond the simple realization of images and has deeply changed my way of experiencing life and relating to others, ” Perfido writes on his website.
Perfido work has been featured with companies like Saatchi & Saatchi and Leo Burnett, as well as publications like The New York Times and Vogue Russia. Valeria Orlando assisted with the shooting effort by doing the make-up.
What marvelous work by those two!
