Police Called After Camera Tripod Is Mistaken For Machine Gun

It’s a tripod! No, it’s a gun! These kinds of differences in opinions can get a police team called on you. This is what happened to Natalie Kolb, a photographer from the Reading Eagle news website. Someone thought that her camera tripod was a machine-gun (maybe the M134 Minigun ?). Armed police responded and a building in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was raided by armed police.

They eventually found the tripod and the photographer at the offices of a software company called Industrial Resolution. The police officers were kind enough to pose for a picture that IR later posted on their Facebook. Lt. Todd Umstead of Lancaster Police Department has said that the police are happy about the citizens remaining vigilant.

Is this a tripod or a 7.62×51 mm NATO, six-barrel machine gun with a rate of fire of 2,000 to 6,000 rounds per minute? One Lancasterian didn’t wait to find out and called the police.

Luckily, it turned out to be just a tripod from a photographer visiting a software company to cover a story.
