Playful and Quirky Furniture By South Korean Sculptor Lila Jang
Lila Jang is a marvellous young Seoul-born sculptor who creates 18th century French furniture that seem to be caught in the middle of a surreal show. Her chair dances, her canapé climbs up the wall and her armchair looks like an arrogant snob with its over-the-top puffy elbows that make it difficult for anyone to sit between them.
Jang created the designs living in a tiny apartment in Paris, and the only way she could fit the pieces of furniture that she had in mind was to bend and otherwise deform them. Also, it was the way to escape routine for her and bring some fantasy into her everyday world. Jang studied in Seoul and Paris and constantly participates in international group shows and art fairs.
