Peak Nostalgia: 35 Things We Used Daily In The 80s

If you were born in the 80s or lived through it, there are some experiences that we all seem to have in common. As surprising as it is to comprehend, in a time before the internet, a rumour about Marilyn Manson went ‘viral’ so to speak. The funny thing is, this little fabrication spread unfathomably wide, taking over the world, which was an astonishing feat as this was before global connectivity was such an easy thing. I recall how this particular juicy tidbit was shared by a schoolmate in hushed tones to a posse of gossip-hungry teenage girls during my youth, even on my little island.

Similarly, there are some items from the 80s that we all seemed to know about or have, like the radio set that looked like a wannabe high-riser or the albums of puffy stickers, which we were all so very proud of and are probably still tucked away in a drawer somewhere. The everyday vibe of the 80s was fun and full of the possibilities of technology. Let’s reminisce with a list of the best throwback photos to take you down memory lane and enjoy peak 80s nostalgia, shared in the gallery below.

My house is a 4 br built in 2007. I was born in 1981 and was trying to recreate the feeling of growing up in the 80s middle class home. Needed a project after my wife passed and it was so much fun putting it together. My teenage girls would let me convert the whole basement.

Shanilou Perera

Shanilou has always loved reading and learning about the world we live in. While she enjoys fictional books and stories just as much, since childhood she was especially fascinated by encyclopaedias and strangely enough, self-help books. As a kid, she spent most of her time consuming as much knowledge as she could get her hands on and could always be found at the library. Now, she still enjoys finding out about all the amazing things that surround us in our day-to-day lives and is blessed to be able to write about them to share with the whole world as a profession.
