Homeless Kids Were Asked Who They Want To Be And Their Dreams Were Turned Into Photos
What did you want to be when you grew up? Portrait Project By Art Start lets homeless teens live out that fantasy if only in pictures. Working with various photographers, they reached out to homeless teens, listened to how they would like to be seen, and staged photoshoots to recreate their fantasies. From crime scene investigation to singers, to mysterious dames, they all look confident and dignified.
Portrait Project was a collaboration between Art Start, an art reach out for children-at-risk, Anyways Reps and various other companies and organizations. “Our greatest hope that the public takes from this exhibition is the authentic voices and representations of the youth in the images. This is their chance for people to know their essence and not just define them by their circumstances,” Art Start’s co-executive director Johanna De Los Santos told HelloGiggles.
