Germans Fight Public Urination By Covering Walls With Superhydrophobic Substance

Public urination is bad, and if you don’t agree, you’re probably peeing on a wall yourself. St. Pauli district of Hamburg, tired of partygoers marking their territory, is getting some peeback : they have covered many walls around the district with superhydrophobic coating, which actually makes urine splash back.. So when you pee on a wall in St. Pauli, the wall pees back at you! This will hopefully persuade people to look for an actual bathroom instead of taking leaks willy nilly. Besides, peeback is such a punny word!

Of course, there are warnings on the super hydrophobic walls. But not on all of them, so deciding that you beat the system by walking around the corner might have some nasty consequences. And considering that fines and warnings didn’t work, it’s unlikely that those signs dissuaded all of the drunks on the go.

‘Tis but a wee step towards a prettier Hamburg…
