Floating Gym In Paris Powered By Its Visitors
Design and innovation agency Carlo Ratti Associati has just unveiled one of their most creative eco-designs yet. It’s called Paris Navigating Gym and it’s basically a human-powered gym that would move along the Seine River in the heart of the French capital.
“ The Paris Navigating Gym investigates the potential of harnessing human power, ” explains Carlo Ratti. “ It’s fascinating to see how the energy generated by a workout at the gym can actually help to propel a boat. It provides one with a tangible experience of what lies behind the often abstract notion of ‘electric power’. “
The design of this 20-meter boat was inspired by the Bateaux Mouches, typical 20th-century touristic ferry-boats of the Seine River. And if this one eventually goes into production, it will be functional all year long, finally making those strolls on the river – a reality.
