Every Year This One-Legged Guy Amazes Us With His Halloween Costume, And This Year Is No Exception
Josh Sundquist is an athlete, comedian and motivational speaker who had his leg amputated due to cancer at the age of nine. Clearly, that didn’t get in the way of achieving his dreams. But there’s also one more thing we didn’t mention about this man – he has a real passion for creative Halloween costumes.
Every year Josh comes up with a new creative idea for a one-leg based Halloween costume. From the gingerbread man from Shrek to a foosball player – his ingenuity never ceases to amaze us. This year the athlete dressed up as the Genie from Aladdin and it not only looks incredible – it also has an interesting backstory which he told in an interview with People magazine.
Josh said that only a few weeks after losing his leg he received a letter from a Walt Disney animator who happened to be a double amputee. “His name was Broose Johnson. Make-A-Wish later gave me the chance to meet him.” The animator sent Josh a picture of Genie, one of the characters he animated, and the athlete decided to create this year’s costume as a tribute to Broose, the Make-A-Wish foundation, and Robin Williams.

2010: “From Shrek. Not the gumdrop buttons!”
2012: “My wife Ashley suggested this idea, a reference to the movie ‘A Christmas Story’”
2013: “I was just at the zoo one time and I noticed that flamingos look like me doing a crutch handstand. So yeah”
2015: “It’s a classic amputee joke. This year I decided to anthropomorphize it”
“If my career as a motivational speaker doesn’t work out, I could probably get a job at IHOP”
2016: “Lumiere—He’s Disney’s most famous monopod”
2017: “Here’s my Halloween costume! Tigger!”
2018: “Hello, Aladdin. Nice to have you on the show. Can we call you Al? Or maybe just Din? Or how about Laddie? Kind of like, ‘Here boy! [Whistles] Come on, Laddie!”
But this year’s costume also has a deeper meaning to Josh
