Artist Turns Single Strands Of Wire Into Elaborate Tree Sculptures
These incredibly elaborate tree sculptures by UK-based sculptor and author Clive Maddison are each from a single wire strand.
Born “ in the heart of Robin Hood Country in a village called Edwinstowe, ” the artist was fascinated from childhood by practical arts and crafts like wood- and metal-working. Now the artist focuses on two of his passions – writing and sculpting with wire. What’s interesting is that Maddison doesn’t use glue, solder, or any other material other than a single long wire strand per sculpture. The wonderfully flexible and strong material gives his pieces a rich, silvery shine.
“ The beauty of this art is that no two sculptures are the same, ” writes Maddison. “ There may be similarity of style between pieces, material used, or type of tree being represented, but the way they are made means that every sculpture will be unique. ”
