Many of us fondly remember Steven Spielberg’s classic 1993 movie Jurassic Park and all the sequels that followed. Alan Grant, from the original Jurassic Park, was based on paleontologist Jack Horner (pictured), who both Michael Crichton and Steven Spielberg consulted about dinosaur behavior. For The Lost World, the character Robert Burke is based on rival paleontologist Robert Bakker, with whom Horner has a friendly feud.
Their major disagreement is over the behavior of Tyrannosaurus rex. Horner argues that T. Rex was a scavenger, while Bakker insists that T. Rex must have been a predator. Horner reportedly asked to have Burke eaten by the T. Rex in The Lost World. Bakker was apparently flattered, and wrote back to Horner, saying “I told you T. rex was a hunter!”

Quirky Movie Etiquette Slides From 1912
Going to the cinema to see the newest movie always has its pros and cons, the latter usually concerning problems with other moviegoers. As these vintage slides from 1912 by John D. Scott and Edward Van Altena show, movie etiquette seems to have always been a problem.
These slides’ respectful creators made a bunch of light-hearted movie etiquette cards in the early 1910s to promote good behavior while at the cinema by showing examples of good manners.
The Library of Congress writes: “ As middle class mass entertainments gained increasing popularity in the late nineteenth century, so did the impetus to instruct this new audience in the ways of appropriate public behavior. ”
