18-Year-Old Artist Reaches Her Life’s Goal, Gets Her Painting In NY’s Metropolitan Museum
It’s been a busy week for 18-year-old Cliffannie Forrester, who just graduated from the High School of Art and Design in New York City. But that wasn’t the biggest event that week because she also reached her life-long goal when her painting Uganda was featured in the city’s famous Metropolitan Museum of Art.
As she wrote on her Twitter page: “ People think I’m stopping here because I achieved my ultimate goal… Lol, I’m getting another piece in the MET one day & nothing will stop me. ” Her dream came true thanks to P.S. Art , an annual student contest conducted by the NYC Department of Education. Her work is one of 89 selected paintings out of 1,205 submissions by NYC public school students.
Forrester’s painting is a stylized recreation of the scene she saw while on a missionary trip to Uganda in 2014. “ We were going to church and I saw a little girl who was just standing around, admiring everything, ” the painter said to elle.com . Her teacher, Ms. Jimenez, suggested Cliffannie study painters like Edgar Degas and Diego Velázquez for stylistic inspiration. The result of what happened next is waiting for you below.

Artist Paints Realistic Portraits On His Hands And Stamps Them On Paper
Art in the palm of your hand? You got it! California-based artist, Russell Powell, paints celebrities’ faces on the palm of his hand. He then transfers them to paper, using his self-titled “hand-stamping” technique.
Russell adds intricate facial features and dramatic shading, which give his creations a spectacular, three-dimensional appearance. He works quickly enough to ensure the paint doesn’t dry before he puts palm to paper.
By adding his hand-print, Russell’s creations get a distinctive personal touch, and will always remain unique to him.
