15 Beautiful Miniature Paintings Concealed Inside Mint Boxes, As Created By This Artist
Remington Robinson is an artist who creates realistic miniature oil paintings and displays them inside mint tins. He started making watercolor paintings in July 2017 and soon turned to create miniature oil paintings in November 2017.
In a recent interview with DeMilked , Remington told us that he got inspired when he saw someone else doing it and he thought it was fun and portable. He also added, “I’ve made a lot of detailed photorealism paintings in the past, and thought it would be fun to do realism all the time without having to commit to spending weeks and weeks on one painting.” Check out some of his most beautiful works in the gallery below.

The artist also explained, “The mint tin itself is not the “canvas”, but it is the holder for the piece of wood I paint on. It’s the same idea as a pochade box that is sold in art supply stores and is used for plein air painting, but just a lot smaller.”

Remington said that it takes him anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours to create a single miniature painting.

Describing his working process, the artist said, “My creative process fluctuates with my feelings, both of which are always evolving. I enjoy traveling to new places and gaining new perspectives, I’m inspired by lighting and the weather, and occasionally I really like taking myself out of my comfort zone – for example, with trying out different limited palettes, painting something new, etc.”

Artist Paints Realistic Portraits On His Hands And Stamps Them On Paper
Art in the palm of your hand? You got it! California-based artist, Russell Powell, paints celebrities’ faces on the palm of his hand. He then transfers them to paper, using his self-titled “hand-stamping” technique.
Russell adds intricate facial features and dramatic shading, which give his creations a spectacular, three-dimensional appearance. He works quickly enough to ensure the paint doesn’t dry before he puts palm to paper.
By adding his hand-print, Russell’s creations get a distinctive personal touch, and will always remain unique to him.
